Coronavirus (covid-19) & Extended filing and tax deadline
To maintain a safe workplace for our staff and a safe environment for our clients, our office will no longer be conducting in-person tax appointments for the foreseeable future, due to the recent outbreak of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).
Our staff is working remotely and may be contacted via email or via telephone message on our voicemail system; your call will be returned.
A large portion of our clientele already submit tax and accounting documents to us electronically, so we are already very accustomed to working remotely.
The following are your options to get us your tax documents:
Scan and email documents directly to your tax preparer; feel free to email your tax preparer to request that a link be sent directly to you
Upload documents into your Share File Folder: https://streitfeldaccounting.sharefile.com/?cmd=p
Username: Your email address we have in your files
Password: Please establish a new password, if you don’t have one set-up already
For those clients who do not have a scanner and would prefer to not go to a post office to mail out your tax documents, then please let us know and we will make separate arrangements with you to obtain your tax documents.
RECENT IMPORTANT UPDATES: The Internal Revenue Service and the California Franchise Tax Board have extended TAX FILINGS and PAYMENTS that would normally be due on April 15, 2020 to be filed and paid as late as July 15, 2020.
If you are in a State other than California, then please refer to your home state website for current filing information and deadlines.
We do encourage our clients to file their tax returns now. If your tax return can be completed, then it is best not to wait on your filing.
Currently, you cannot schedule your tax payment for July 15, 2020. As of this writing and posting, the tax filing software has not been updated to accept the extended payment date.
We will file your tax return and either provide you with a paper coupon voucher to mail your tax payment into the IRS with a check or you may pay online directly.
To pay Federal Tax directly to the IRS, please navigate to this IRS link: https://www.irs.gov/payments
To pay California State Tax directly to the CA FTB, please navigate to this Franchise Tax Board link: https://www.ftb.ca.gov/pay/index.html
If your tax return was filed already and your taxes are scheduled to be automatically withdrawn from your bank account on or near April 15, 2020, then you may call the IRS and the CA FTB directly to cancel the payment and reschedule for July 15, 2020.
For Federal Tax Payments call the IRS: (888) 353-4537
For California Tax Payments call the Franchise Tax Board: (916) 845-0353
Before making the call to the IRS and the CA FTB, you will need to have your Year 2019 original payment amount and original date of withdrawal. You will also need information off of your Year 2018 tax return, which they will use as a ‘verification year’.
